Teachers notes

uki11a - aims to record children's understanding of "more" and "less"pennies, and introduces them to these two words in writing. As with all early Maths activities, it is important to ensure that children are given help, where needed, in reading and following instructions. Make sure that every child in the group is pointing to the words and readthe instruction sentences together. Talk about what they mean. If necessary, children may count pennies onto the pennies in the sets, but most will cope without this activity.

Work through the sections, one at a time, from top to bottom. First complete the total labels. Then let children point to the "more" set. Help them to identify the "more" label. Now identify the "less" label. Children can now draw a pencil line from each label to the appropriate set. As they work through the sections they will become more self-confident in "reading" the labels. They are now ready to work on uki21a. uki21a - aims to record children'sunderstanding of "more" and "less" pounds and gives further experience in reading these words. uki21a should be used as soon as possible after uki11a. Work through the activity as for uki11a.

Instructions
Count the money in each set and enter the value in the tags.  Then you need to click and drag the more or less labels to the correct white tag.  When you have finished click on the blue tick to see how well you have done.
