Aged 75 Grandpa-Five-Pounds is a retired sailor. He still potters about in his little dinghy but misses the days when he sailed on the big ships. He tells stories of his adventures on the ocean and has been known to expand on the truth, or even tell whopping fibs. The children never tire of his stories and he can often be found down at the harbour with the children in tow. He is full of life and zest and thinks that his son - Father-Fifty - wastes his time eating and sleeping when there are so many adventures to be had. Grandpa has never really grown up, and probably never will!
